SHRM Affiliation
The chapter is affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SHRM is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China and India. We encourage our local chapter members to become members of National SHRM.
Local chapters provide additional programming and networking opportunities in your area. Chapters are autonomous organizations, so it is not automatic that you will be a member of your local chapter when you join SHRM at the national level, and vice versa.

We are part of HR Virginia (https://www.hrvirginia.org/) and participate in State Council, State Leadership Conference, and the State Conference. HR Virginia provides HR professionals in the Commonwealth of Virginia and District of Columbia information on local, statewide and national HR events, resources, initiatives and legislation to assist you in your day-to-day HR duties.
For those who serve on local chapter boards, we are also here to assist you in your leadership role. We are a 100% volunteer council that takes a strategic approach to advance the profession and serve the HR professional.
