October 2023 Newsletter Print

Welcome

Happy Fall SVSHRM!

As the vibrant leaves of the Shenandoah Valley transform into a breathtaking tapestry of autumn colors, we welcome you to our October newsletter. It's that time of year when the crisp air and the rustling leaves remind us of the beauty of change, both in nature and within our professional lives.

Fall Foliage Delights: As we immerse ourselves in the stunning fall foliage, we can't help but draw parallels to the changes we encounter in the HR world. Just as the leaves evolve from green to brilliant hues of red, orange, and gold, our HR practices and strategies also adapt and grow to meet the ever-shifting needs of the workplace.

Networking and Connection: In this edition, we bring you networking opportunities and HR insights to help you thrive during this season of transformation. We understand that connecting with fellow HR professionals is beneficial and vital for personal and career growth. This newsletter serves as a hub for these connections, offering a platform to share experiences, best practices, and innovative ideas.

Your Contributions: We also encourage you to participate actively in our Chapter. Share your successes, questions, and suggestions with us. Your experiences can inspire others and help shape the future of our HR community.

As we embark on this autumnal journey together, let's embrace the changing seasons of our lives and professions with enthusiasm and resilience. The Shenandoah Valley's fall beauty serves as a reminder that, like the leaves, we too can shine brilliantly in our own unique way.

Thank you for being a part of our thriving SVSHRM community. We look forward to connecting with you at our upcoming events and hearing your growth and success stories.

Warm regards,

SVSHRM Board of Directors

I’ve been in the staffing industry for almost 20 years. Throughout my career I’ve focused on recruiting, training, management, business development, and client retention. When I started in staffing, I started to realize how great it felt to help someone get a job that was a good fit for them. I’ve had several success stories over the years, and many appreciative employees. I live in Rockingham County and enjoy reading, gardening, hiking, and visiting with my grandson.

Calendar of Events

Gathered over the past seven years of doing cultural audits, Antoinetta has seen just how different leadership's understanding of their organizational culture can be from the reality of employees' experiences. By facilitating courageous conversations with employees and their leadership, Antoinetta led many of those same organizations forward. Sharing her valuable findings from that work in this talk, Antoinetta is encouraging more organizations to create equitable and inclusive spaces for these courageous conversations with the goal of moving them from courageous to commonplace.

You'll learn:

  1.    Why courage is an action and choice that has to be cultivated and celebrated.
  2. Why we need equitable and inclusive spaces to have courageous conversations and what's at stake without them.
  3. How to lead, create and foster effective courageous conversations using the Courageous Consciousness Chart™.
  4. What's possible when teams, leaders and organizations consistently embrace courage.
